On Perseverance

I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.”

John D. Rockefeller

Like most people, I have an issue finishing projects and keeping on track. I have no problem starting but finding the will and desire to keep going becomes an obstacle over time. The odd aspect is that this tends to only affect personal endeavors not professional ones.

If my grades/job/income is on the line, I will complete each and every single inane and stupid thing I have to do without question However, personal projects that I enjoy and that I find fulfilling seem to fall by the wayside.

The dumb part is that I know that the only way to overcome this is simply to put your shoulder to the door and push through. Of course, such suggestions are easier said than done.

I wish I had some pithy, catchy advice that could boost your perseverance and productivity, but I got nothing in this case. In fact, I would love to hear your suggestions. Maybe one of you will be able to bestow some great wisdom.

Until then, just keep working because that is really the only way to move forward.

  1. Good book I’ve read before “the 7 habits of highly effective people” but really at the end of the day you just have to go with what Nike says “Just do it”
